'The Road' by Cormac McCarthy

This is not necessarily an attempt at reviewing 'The Road' as I haven't even finished reading the book. It's more a necessity to describe the storming impact this book has made or should I say inflicted on me. The relationship between father and son is heart-wrenchingly beautifully described in a world that has, for all we know, nothing left to offer. Still, in the solemn, barren, burnt and deserted landscape we find these two 'good people' struggling and striving to reach the coast.
Furthermore, this book should be obligatory reading to anyone who has a care for the environment, and here I'm first and foremost thinking of the bigwigs who are (hopefully) to show up at the climate conference in Copenhagen this December. This book is depicting a wasteland of unimaginable nothingness and could well be what we would end up with do we not start to realize the impact we're causing to our precious Mother Earth. Yes, I know: yet another crusader who's polishing his halo whilst smoking a cigarette after having flown to Berlin to sit here and think himself wise on such grand matters as this our environment. So I guess I better stop whilst I'm ahead, if I'm not already two steps behind.
Do read this book! For all its sadness the beauty of the relationship between father and son is to me the only proof and inspiration still to believe that mankind has a chance to reach the shore and hopefully marvel at not a black but a deep blue sea!
Cormac McCarthy is simply a revelation to read and this stark book will stay with(in) me forever!
Let's see where it all goes from here ... :-)

One step at a time, sometimes two, but never skip one

Hi there,

Why start now? Plenty of good reasons, I suppose. For starters, it's a new week where I yet again but also for a change feel that good things are coming my way.

We'll have to see. I'll keep you posted. The following is an outtake from something which inspired me at one point. I know I run the risk of coming off as selfish but this is not the intention. I love you all!
